Lee Bettis

As CEO and President at AGE Federal Credit Union in Albany, GA, Lee Bettis led the credit union through a charter conversion to create Heritage Bank of the South, now a $600 million-asset mutual savings institution. He retired from banking in July 2003 and currently maintains homes in Albany, GA and Santa Rosa Beach, FL.
Mr. Bettis spent 17 years in the banking industry. He rose to senior vice president of C&S Bank of Georgia, which later became Nations Bank (now Bank of America). Mr. Bettis was also the chair of User’s Inc., a credit union data processing company (later Envision Financial Technologies, now part of Fiserv Inc.),
A native of Memphis, Lee Bettis is a graduate of the University of Tennessee (Bachelor of Science – Finance); Salve Regina University in Newport, RI (Masters of Science – Management); the U.S. Naval War College; and the NATO Defense College in Rome, Italy. He retired from the U.S. Marine Corps with the rank of colonel.
Throughout his career, Mr. Bettis chaired or served in leadership positions on the boards of civic and service organizations, including: the United Way of S.W. Georgia; the Salvation Army; the Daugherty County Rotary Club; the Albany/Daugherty County Chamber of Commerce; Leadership Albany; Albany Tomorrow; the Boy's Club of Albany; Girls Inc.; and the Darton College Foundation.
